Paul A. Biane Library
The city's flagship library at Victoria Gardens: free tutoring, study rooms, and a Library of Things.
The Paul A. Biane Library is the city's flagship branch, sharing the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center with the Lewis Family Playhouse, and it's the rare public building that justifies a trip on its own. The hours are real and generous: Tuesday through Thursday until 8pm, Friday and Saturday until 6.
The free stuff is the story. A card gets you cloudLibrary for ebooks, Mango Languages for language learning, BrainFuse for live homework tutoring, bookable study rooms, and the Library of Things — the catalog where the checkouts aren't books. None of it costs anything, which makes this one of the best per-dollar destinations in the city by default.
Upstairs is Second Story and Beyond, the ticketed kids' discovery space — separate admission, separate (and currently confusing) hours. Downstairs stays free.
