Magic Lamp Inn

Start with the sign, because everyone does: a neon Aladdin lamp that shoots a real flame into the night sky over Foothill Boulevard. It's the most photographed object in Rancho Cucamonga and one of the great surviving pieces of Route 66 roadside America.

The restaurant behind it closed in 2023, got a full renovation, and reopened in late 2024 — so ignore anything you read that says it's gone. Inside is mid-century dinner-house DNA: red booths, a working fireplace, a bar built for Manhattans. The menu runs classic American dinner-house fare, and the kitchen's best argument is consistency rather than surprise.

Come at dusk. Photograph the sign with the flame lit, then go in for a drink at minimum. On the centennial route down Foothill, this is the single most iconic stop.
