Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ

Grill-your-own Japanese yakiniku at Victoria Gardens — marinated small plates over a tabletop flame, best in groups.

$$Happy hourEasy parking

Gyu-Kaku is yakiniku — Japanese barbecue — which means the kitchen preps marinated small plates of beef, pork, and vegetables, and you do the actual cooking over a grill set into your table. Dinner becomes a group activity with tongs, and pacing, not speed, is the skill.

Come with at least three other people. The format runs on variety: order widely, grill in waves, and let the edges of the marinade char. Solo yakiniku is technically possible; it's just a much quieter movie.

The happy-hour windows are the value play, when the per-plate math shifts dramatically in your favor. At full price it's a mid-tier night out on the Monet Ave row; at happy hour it's one of the better deals at Victoria Gardens, full stop.
