Deane's Bar and Thrill

Red Hill's dive bar with the best name in town — the 'thrill' is that it never tries too hard.

$Late night

Best bar name in the city, and it isn't close. Deane's Bar and Thrill sits on San Bernardino Rd in Red Hill, one of the oldest corners of Rancho Cucamonga, and operates as a proper dive: unglamorous, unhurried, and unbothered by whatever's opening at the mall this quarter.

We won't oversell the 'thrill' — nobody should. The thrill is that the beer is cold, the room doesn't care what you do for a living, and the regulars have the kind of long memories that make a neighborhood bar an actual institution rather than just a business.

Red Hill doesn't get the attention the Victoria Gardens end of town does, which suits it fine. If you want to drink where Rancho Cucamonga actually lives — not where it entertains visitors — Deane's belongs on the itinerary alongside Hide-A-While and Mustang Sally's.
